Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be. - Grandma Moses

This is not a still life. This is a person that must keep moving.
Where is his table and chair? Where is his bed? Winter is coming.

He says; “Please …” and “Thank you.” a lot. This is his mantra.

We pass by him and he may even be invisible.
We tell ourselves why or why not.
We think we know where we are.
We may even think we know where he is.
We excuse ourselves, get up from our tables and go to our beds.
The truth is – we don’t know what else to do.

Dear Robin
I like your work “I see Emily in her pictures” because I love living in a cottage in middle of a forest. The contrast between green and brown makes me feel relax However, the white color in back ground bother my eyes. I prefer to have a cloudy weather like gray sky instead.
Hmm… Looking at these pictures you think that poor person he has to beg for his existence, he has no bed no shelter. On the other hand, why somebody need to give him some change? He looks like strong healthy man, he can fiend a job. In my opinion beggars are lazy men, ok, only if they have some disabilities, they worth mercy. I think in this country everybody has a chance to survive, not begging but working. I’m sorry if I have touched somebody feelings, but this is my opinion.
Hi,Robin.
Nice pictures. Showing us the true life.
Every country has trampers like them, so this is an international problem. I just confuse why there are many trampers in Canada. The government supply many things for poor people like money, food houses and maybe jobs. Why do they still beg?
I was thought by these pictures…and your comments. I realized that I’m a lucky because I afford to study abroad. But there are so many people who don’t have enough money to eat! Actually, I join volunteer activity which I serve meal for homeless people every Wednesday. I always think that the government should do something for these people.
Thank you for good pictures:)
Hi,robin.
I’m not sure i understand the pictures meaning.
But i guess that’s a mendicant, in my country mendicant was crazy than that one. i like these pictures, have many connotation inside, give us more space to imagine that.. thanks ! good job.
To be honest, I hate those people… most of them, not all of them. Because, in my experience, they are so shameless sometimes. I just can’t understand. Maybe I don’t want to…;
no excuse to give them money, coz that will lead them to beg fot money along the street.they have hands ,arms, and legs, why don’t they earn their dinner by their own?because of what?laziness.
if there is a disabled person there playing guitar, you should show your kindness because they are still making efforts now.that’s just my own opinion.
people should earn their own living, but maybe to them who don’t wanna work, begging is a easy way.
Hi Robin
I don’t know, Why People doesn’t work, and need to give money of another people. God Said: If you have a action, I help you. Now, I don’t know why?
I konw, Goverment of Canada help a homeless people, just i don’t why this people again give money of people.
Some time this people maybe very dangerous, because, they used and sold a drug.
So, I just can’t understand.
Thank you
Babak

hi dear Robin…how are you?

nice pictures with alot of meanings…
i think it needs concentration and deep thinking..
in my opinion thats the result of the uncontroled raise on the prices of things..specialy food..
all over the world the prices are increasing and the number of poor people is increasing with it…
And i think poor people are 2 types:
1- the one that dosen’t do anything and wants everything to come to him..
2- the one whom have real reasons for being poor…
but we don’t know and we judge without thinking!
regards
Hello Sam
I’m fine … busy making plans for tomorrow’s lesson …
Yes – inflation of the cost of basic necessities is now a global crisis. Of course, much of this increased cost is due to the instability of oil prices which are being manipulated to a large extent by American foreign policy.
I am reminded of what was written on many signs carried in protests against the first war on the Iraqi people; “NO BLOOD FOR OIL” …
Thank you for stopping by. Your observations are both balanced and thoughtful.
Cheers ~ r
i’ve read all the comments but i think some of you forgot life’s the other face…
sometimes life serves you some tricks , you may lost your family, house, money etc. you may lost everything that you have.maybe life haven’t served you a trick yet , but you may get bad things from life in the future…who knows?…
although this man looks healthy,he doesn’t work.yes;he should work and try to do something but we don’t know what happened to him, what does he have in his mind?…in my opinion, we try to do empathy about him.i hope god, government and also we have to help like these people:)
robin i love you,you’re a good teacher:)
come on… guys
for me that poor people are working too.You can imagine how hard is to be stand up all day, putting sad and suffering face, feeling hunger, cold or who knows how many things more?nobody knows, only them:)
Dear Robin
I really like your work number 102. The combination of red and blue color is fantastic. The blue sky with blue birds and white cloud explains the perfect usage of one color to show every things. The only thing I want to know more is: what is the red object in the hand? It seems a kind of fruit. And what is your main idea of having a red fruit in hand and pointing to sky?. I think it shows some one is praying God.

Sara
i remember when i moved out, i took sum staff for sum homeless’.they r friendly and very nice. anyway i like talk with begga coz i can feel wutz real life.
i don’t unerstand why they don’t work. They are even healthier than some people. If people always give these beggers money, they will think that you can get money without working. so i think don’t give them money, if they really need money they can get it through.
come on. i have one homeie.he is a white ppl, and he wanna get job,but its hard. last month he got job,and then he lost, coz he doesn’t have id card, u know i meanin’
btw, i like these pics,really.
I don’t understand why pleope in Canada have to ask for money even thougth they have the canadian’s protection. I think this situation not leave good comments of a developed country.
Great conversation! Not everyone in Canada does have protection.
Imagine: you have had a difficult start in life, you have bad luck, make some bad choices … you lost your job and have run out of money. Your rent/mortgage is overdue … then you are homeless. You have nowhere to keep clean clothes, nowhere to wash, nowhere safe and clean to sleep, nowhere to keep a bit of food, no food … live like this for a few days/then weeks/then months …
…now, get a job.
Do we blame people for needing help or do we look for ways to help them?
?

Well I think that in Canada you could still decide how to live. This is a very supportive country. The homeless people in Bulgaria don’t ask money for cafe or for weed – they are really starving. We don’t have food banks or non-profit organizations to help.
So here I feel is like mostly their choice./ I don’t mean the people with debilities/
I don’t understand why that happens in Canada.I think people who ask for money on the street are lazy because They can find a job and make money.
Hello, Robin.
Wherever we walk down the street, we can meet many people who don’t have enough money and ask money to other people. I know we need to help these people, but sometimes i feel scary when i meet them…
I think the best way to help these people is gevornment’s help. The government should give them opportunity to work and they can be independent by supporting themselves.
At firts, don’t trust this time!! This is Japanese time, so now is 23:46. I never comment at Lunch time!!!
By the way, I think Canadian homeless people are very cunning as a fox. They demand the money. Unbelieveble!! Do work themselves!! In my country, there are many homeless people, and they live in the park even if it is cold winter. They earn money themselves fo many ways. Some people sell used magazin, some people collect cans and sell fo recycle company. I like Canada, but I don’t like people who are lazy.
I do voluntary work regularly for homeless people every Wednesday. Helping people in need gives me deep satisfaction. I don’t understand why there are many homelessness in Canada.
