?? … Happy New Year, Year of the Rat.

We’ve been having a lot of weather lately. I’ve been remembering a painter I saw near Bay and Bloor last year …

It was really cold that day, late November, no snow yet. I remember that I wanted to bring him coffee and look at his work, maybe even hang out and paint with him for awhile, but I didn’t.

What you see is what you get, right? When did you start looking?
Remember being the odd one out? It’s a damn scramble.
How many ways of seeing are there …?
Look, … see?

In the hinterland, who’s who? We’re all in this carnival fun-house/6 billion+ car pile-up together.

Chinook winds have arrived. January thaw reminds us of spring.
The dead of winter waits a month down the road from here.

It won’t last … but while it does someone will celebrate, get a bit giddy
and dig out a pair of shorts.

… and someone else will sigh and wait for the arctic air to return us to the ice …

Let the snow fly, we don’t mind it. It feels like ice on a bad bruise.

Let the snow fly, we don’t mind it.

Stillness and here you are.
Drift, all ways at once, at home.
Sing and hum and pass by.
Wolves don’t bother me, let them howl.
I don’t mind them.

Words floated in, edit, edit, edit with ease.
This is not how ‘war and peace’ was written.
Clearly, this is not ‘war and peace’.

Here we all are in the middle of the feast; entrance / no entry.

Walk in the place where you live. Learn something.

Hogmanay.
G-d bless you.
